Who needs due diligence?

It’s simple question. If you were going to lay out a load of cash on say a house or a car, wouldn’t you take time to look around or stick your head under the bonnet? We’ll not if you’re a part of the super rich. In these tougher economic times where cash and credit are tougher to get a hold of, these million and billionaires are buying your clubs and making them into something of a mockery. Take Newcastle and Mike Ashley. He supports Spurs, he owns Newcastle. It’s his toy set now and he’s doing exactly what he want’s to do with it. Or that bloke who bought Portsmouth and couldn’t pay the wages after a month or so. Carston Yeung’s first attempt to get his paws on Birmingham ended in failure and Steve Bruce leaving.

Then there’s Notts County, a country mile away from the Premier league but they have a plan. This plan includes Sven and Sol and now Sven’s deputy coach. The thing is none of these super rich have seemed to complete a proper course of due diligence and when they don’t want to put their hand in their pockets anymore this is what they blame. Now these guys are no mugs. They’ve made money wherever they’ve been. You just don’t do that unless you have more money than sense. And at the moment most are proving that to be true.

English football is heading for a massive crash in much the same way that the banking sector did. Everyone then asked “Why didn’t the regulator stop this before it happened.” It’s a complex question, much too complex for here, but the point is the same thing is going to happen in football. Do you see the FA stepping in ’cause we don’t.

Sadly when the crash does come, we’ll all still be here as it’s our club afterall, but maybe the Sven’, Sol’s, Mike’s Carston’s and the world interest won’t.
